Philanthropic Campaign
Dear friends & followers of our area’s efforts to preserve the heritage, culture, and stories of the southeast Missouri region.
The Kellerman Foundation for historic preservation would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to everyone for their interest in our new endeavor: restoring the old City Hall at 401 Independence, Cape Girardeau, Missouri. It will become the Kellerman Museum.
Historic places are under constant threat from neglect, development, and disconnection. This project is a rare opportunity to save a significant structure and give it renewed purpose — as a living space where history is preserved, interpreted, and celebrated.
By acting now, we not only preserve a building but empower a movement for preservation, education, and community engagement.
OUR VISION
We envision a museum that is not only a repository of artifacts but also a living hub of learning, creativity, and engagement. Our mission is to preserve and present our regional history in ways that resonate with modern audiences and enrich community life.
We are working to restore the legacy building (now called Kellerman LorimIer Hall), which will offer a permanent home to the many archives & collections showcasing our region’s history. The space will also become city wide use space for entertainment & events, focused on the arts, humanities, architecture, culture, history, & music of our region.
MULTI-USE MUSEUM SPACES
The Kellerman Foundation, established in 2012, is a non-profit organization. Our current efforts for this historic space are supported by solely by generous donations from those interested in the historic preservation & education of our region’s role in shaping the area.
All donations will be matched by a generous donor for the project, so please consider a year end, tax deductible donation to help us meet the financial needs of three space. It’s through your donation that this monumental space will see a new life and future for use all to enjoy. Thank you for your kindness, love, & support of this project and of southeast Missouri history.
Together, all things are possible!

IMPORTANT GOAL
At the Kellerman Foundation for Historic Preservation, we believe that saving history is a shared responsibility — and a shared opportunity. This campaign is your chance to help write the next chapter of a vital local landmark.
Together, we can create a space where stories endure, culture thrives, and history lives on.
Since its purchase, past gifts have gone towards the roof replacement of the 16,000 sq. ft. structure, as well as the repair, maintenance, and replacement of HVAC components and existing plumbing to prepare the space for public use. Grants have been awarded that will help us achieve many important goals as we continue this project. At the end of this year, please consider a donation to help the project efforts afforded towards this great space!
All donations will be matched by a generous supporter of the foundation’s mission.
